BACKGROUND INFORMATION ABOUT THE SCHOOL

Mulago School of Nursing and Midwifery (MSNM) is a Public Training Institution owned by the Ugandan Government under the Ministry of Education and Sports. The School was established by the British Colonial Government in 1955 to address  and promote preventive, rehabilitative as well as curative care in Ugandan communities. It is located on Mulago Hill, just 3Kms from Kampala City Centre.  The School is in a close proximity with Mulago Specialized National Referral and Teaching Hospital  were most students used to be attached to various units for their clinical experience. As per today students are attached to these units for specialized clinical experiences.Other experiences are obtained from  Public Health Facilities such as Kiruddu National Hospital, Kawempe National Hospital,China-Uganda Naguru Hospital(emergency Surgical Hospital),Butabika National Psychiatric Hospital among others.The School is regulated by National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) in conjunction with Ministry of Education and Sports (M.O.E&S).
