Who we are

Mulago School of Nursing and Midwifery (MSNM)- "The Hub of Excellence" is the oldest Nursing and Midwifery Public Training Institution owned by the Ugandan Government under the Ministry of Education and Sports. The School was established by the British colonial Government in 1955.The School is in a close proximity with Mulago Specialized National Referral and Teaching Hospital,Uganda Cancer Institute, Uganda Heart Institute,Mulago Specialised Womens and Neonatal Hospital,Kawempe National Referral Hospital,Butabika National Pschiatric Mental Hospital where most of the students get clinical placement for acquisition of affective and psychomotor skills.

What we offer?

We train Bachelors in Nursing Science Completion(Affilated to Busitema University), Diploma in Nursing (both Direct and Extension), Diploma in Midwifery(Direct,Extension and E-learning),Advanced Diploma in Critical Care Nursing and Advanced Diploma in Palliative Care Nursing

Bachelors in Nursing Science-Completion (Affiliated to Busitema University)

Minimum entry requirements

i. S/he must have a Diploma in Nursing or Midwifery or any related Health Training Course following qualifications.

ii.2 years working Experience from a professional Licensing Body like UNMC or UMDPC

iii. Must go through an online application process by busitema university(apply.busitema.ac.ug)

Bachelors in Midwifery Science-Completion (Affiliated to Busitema University)

Minimum entry requirements

i. S/he must have a Diploma in Nursing or Midwifery or any related Health Training Course following qualifications;

ii.2 years working Experience from a professional Licensing Body like UNMC or UMDPC

iii. Must go through an online application process by busitema university(apply.busitema.ac.ug)

Advanced Diploma Critical Care Nursing

Minimum requirements

i. Possess a Diploma in Nursing or Midwifery or its equivalent qualification as verified by the mandated body

ii. Have practiced in the nursing profession for a minimum of two years

iii. Have been enrolled or verified by the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council

iv. Go through an application process either through the government system or directly at the institution

Diploma Direct Program(Nurses and Midwives)

Minimum entry requirements,

i. Uganda Certificate of Education(UCE) with passes in Biology, Chemistry in same sitting.

ii. Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education(UACE) with Principle Pass in Biology and Chemistry

iii. Must go through an application process either through the Government system or directly at the institution

Diploma Extension Program(Nurses and Extension)

Minimum entry requirements

i. Possess a Certificate in Nursing/Midwifery or equivalent qualification as verified by the mandated body

ii. Have practiced in the nursing profession for a minimum of two years

iii. Have been enrolled or verified by the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council

iv. Go through an application process either through the government system or directly at the institution

Advanced Diploma Palliative Care Nursing

Minimum entry requirements

i. Possess a Diploma in Nursing or Midwifery or its equivalent qualification as verified by the mandated body ii. Have practiced in the nursing profession for a minimum of two years

ii. Have been enrolled or verified by the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council

iii.Go through an application process either through the government system or directly at the institution

Diploma in Midwifery - Elearning

Minimum entry requirements To be admitted to the Diploma in Midwifery E-learning Program, the applicant must;

i. Possess a Certificate in Midwifery or its equivalent qualification as verified by the mandated body

ii. Have practiced in the midwifery profession for a minimum of two years

iii. Have been enrolled or verified by the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council iv. Go through an application process either through the government system or directly at the institution
