On 24th May, 2024, Busitema University formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mulago School of Nursing and Midwifery (MSNM) aimed at fostering a new academic partnership. The partnership will benefit students seeking to advance their careers by pursuing a nursing degree. The event was attended by Chairpersons of Council and senior management of both institutions. The Vice Chancellor, Professor Waako Paul and the Principal, Dr. Eve Nampiima Kakonge signed the MoU on behalf of their institutions marking a significant milestone.

While giving opening remarks, Professor Waako announced the introduction of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Completion programme, which would be offered at Mulago School of Nursing and Midwifery. He emphasized that the MoU with the school represented an important relationship to meet both institutions mutual goal of helping students achieve their dream career as well as prepare the next generation of nursing professionals for our nation’s health care system. On the other note, Ms. Nampiima expressed her gratitude to Busitema University for its support in facilitating this affiliation. She highlighted the importance of the collaboration in offering nurses who had completed their diplomas courses in nursing and midwifery an academic path to upgrade. She said that they were optimistic that they were going to admit students into the study programme in the next intake expected to start in August 2024.

While delivering closing remarks, the Chairpersons of the Councils from both institutions appreciate the contributions and roles played by each institution in facilitating this historic event. They pledged their continued support to similar initiatives that would further academic excellence.
