Academic Programmes

Mulago School of Nursing and Midwifery offers the following courses:

A) Direct Diploma Programmes

Diploma in Nursing (3Years)
Diploma in Midwifery (3Years)

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the direct entry into the Diploma in Nursing Programme, a candidate must satisfy the following admission criteria: –
O level Results: – Credits in the following subjects; English, Biology, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
A level Results:- A principal pass in Biology and two subsidiaries in Chemistry, Physics, Food and Nutrition and Mathematics. Apply using JAB forms
-Conform to the standards of Medical fitness by the Training Authority and Public Service.
-Age limit 18yrs and Above

B) Extensor Diploma Programmes 

Diploma in Nursing – Extension (1.5 Years)
Diploma in Midwifery – Extension (1.5Years)
Advanced Diploma in Palliative Care (1Years)
E-learning Extension Diploma in Midwifery (2 Years)

Entry requirements

To be eligible for either of the above courses, one must have enrolled with Uganda Nurses and Midwifery Council and with a working experience of at least 2years:
-Enrolled Nurse or Enrolled Midwifery or Enrolled Comprehensive Nurse and /or enrolled psychiatry Nurse -Should be at least in possession of “O” level certificate
-Pass a pre-entry Ministry of Education and sports Oral and Written Interviews.
-Age limit -Open
On successful completion of the State Final Uganda Nurses and Midwives Examinations Board (UNMEB) candidates are registered by Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC) and issued a practicing certificate.
